"Yes there is a catch. In return for the resoration of your memories, you have to give up something that is extremely important to you, be it a person, an object, a power. Sues somepeople have been known to lose their magic in rerun for their memories, others have been known to lose the one person they were trying to remembe in the first place. It's not your choce what you lose; it's the magic's choice. Even I could not tell you what you would lose. If you were to lose a person, said person would not remember you and they would find themselves suddenly with a new job offer, or something like that, which would require them to move to a place where you would or see them daily. If you were to lose an object,it would just be gone forever. I think the loss of an ability is fairly self explanatory."
And I'm not a miracle worker, Kaalee. The Old Magic runs through my veins, and allows me to do things that not even the founders of Hogwarts could do. It is a responsibility and privilege that only few are burdened with."

"I know what old magic is. It has burdened my family for many generations. We are not called the Blacks for no reason. And under any other circumstance I'd take the offer, take back 6 years of my life. But I can't. I can't get him back to possibly lose him. You have to realize I don't gamble, especially when the stakes are this high." Kaalee whispered.

[Alec/Jay]

Felipe gave her a fond smile and patted her cheek. "I do understand, Kaalee. Probably better than you think I do. I was not always blind, you know. Just remember that the offer always stands. If you ever change your mind, just find the nearest body of water and call my name out across it. I will be at your side in seconds." He faded into nothing, a last "adios" echoing around her office.

Kaalee sighed and got up. She had things to do. Like remember how to make N.E.W.T level potions. It had been awhile since her father taught her.

[Alec/Jay]

"Aberforth," Alec drawled, "Aberforth, I'm an idiot."
The older man snorted. "I don't think anyone is arguing with you, Alec. We all knew that ages ago." He rolled his eyes at Alec's bleary glare. "Fine, fine, pray tell why you are an idiot."
"Be-hic-cause I got piss drunk in a bar when I could've gotten even more drunk at home, and with better alcohol!" Aberforth chucked a dirty rag at him and Alec laughed, putting his head on the bar and drawing circles with his fingers. "No offense there, old Ab. Plus, I could've been a whole hella lot closer to a bed then I am now"
"You could--" Aberforth began but was interrupted by Alec sitting up and pointing an accusing finger in his face.
"No way, no way in HELL am I stayin' here t'nigh', you lunatic! Las' time I di' tha' I woke up with a whole lotta itchies all over my body. Your damn goat brings a hella lotta buggies, Ab! I just hav'ta go back to Hogwarts. I'll be fiiiiiiiiine, Old man, I'm sure I'll fin' Ole hagei' somewhere!"
With that he placed a few coins on the bar and staggered out the door, singing songs in a loud voice in Spanish. Aberforth sighed and shook his head at the kid who had been going to his bar since he was a fourth year. The gray haired man looked at one of his waiters, a tall, dark haired man working to pay for his mom's hospital bills. "Make sure he makes it back safe, Ryan."

Tommy, a fifth year student, knocked timidly on Professor Black's office door. He was trying to do the essay but kept getting stuck on what happened if wormroot was used instead of wormwood.

"Come on in!" Kaalee called, not really looking up from the paper she was grading. She needed a better teaching plan because these were all over the place. She looked up to see Tommy, a kid she vaguely knew from when she went to school.
"Hey Tommy, how can I help you?" She asked him with a warm smile.

[Alec/Jay]

"Hey, Professor," Tommy smiled as he made his way up to her desk. "I just had a question on this assignment. I know there's a difference between the reactions of wormroot and the wormwood in the pain-relieving potion, but I can't find anywhere what actually happens if you mix the two up. Like, is the result of the potion different?"

[Kaalee/Jonnilee]

"Well in the healing itself, wormroot is used to remove tapeworms, roundworms, those kinds of things and it's not used much. Wormwood however is used for many different type of gastroenterologic problems. However these plants are extremely different in their properties, many of the ingredients that are commonly found in positions with wormwood are not...compatible with wormroot. Most of the time it ends up in an explosion. Does that answer your question?" She asked him.

[Alec/Jay]

The boy nodded in understanding, though he really only took in about half of what she said. "Me brother was always tellin' me that there wasn't a difference between wormwood and wormroot; bet that's why everything blew up in Seamus' face!" He was still laughing as he exited the room after thanking Kaalee.

Somehow, Alec made it back up to the Hospital Wing in his drunken state, where he promptly passed out on one of the hospital beds. Ryan only had to help him a little on the way to the castle when Alec tripped over a few tree roots and was almost content to just sleep inthe dirt. Once they had made it to Hogwarts, though, the tall man left Alec and made his way back to the Higs Head. He knew Alec would wake with a splitting headache the next morning.

[Kaalee/Jonnilee]

Kaalee spent most of the night reviewing and grading. She didn't know why she agreed to this but it sure as heck wasn't for the hours. She fell asleep on her desk, managing to wake up before breakfast ended. She yelped and hurriedly went to her room, changing quickly, and running towards the kitchens, where she was promptly refused a muffin by Winky.
"But...I need my morning sugar!" She sputtered.
"Master Alec said no more sugar for Mistress Kaalee." She said.
"Gah! Fine!" Kaalee said, turning around before pausing.
"Where is Alec?" Kaalee asked.
"Winky thinks Master Alec is in the infirmary, like always." Winky said. Kaalee thanked Winky and started off in that direction. Luckily today she didn't have a first hour class. She saw him passed out drunk on the bed and sighed. She summoned a bucket and filled it with water, before dumping it on him.
"Wakey, Wakey, I want my sugar!" She yelled, waking him up.

[Alec/Jay]

When the water hit him, Alec jerked awake with a yell. Sitting up, he sent a bleary glare at the woman standing over him. "The hell is your problem, woman?" he snapped, running a hand through his dripping wet hair. The sun streaming through the tall windows was doing nothing to help improve his sour mood.

[Kaalee/Jonnilee]

"My problem is that non of the elves will give me any sugar product. And I need sugar to start my day." She said, ssending him her own glare.

[Alec/Jay]

"so they're finally listening to me, huh? well its about time!" Alec muttered before looking back up at the indignant woman in front of him. "No, you're loud and crazy with sugar. I don't think your students could put up with you, though it might make for good rumors about what exactly the potions teacher is smoking." He raised a challenging eyebrow. "And you wouldn't want to deal with those rumors, would you?"

[Kaalee/Jonnilee]

"Yeah, when I go overboard. But I need sugar to start. Most people need caffeine, I hate caffeine. So I get hopped up on sugar before I mellow out about 30 minutes later. But I need that jolt to begin with." Kaalee said, crossing her hands over her chest.

[Alec/Jay]

Alec groaned. "Fine. Fine! Just wait for me; I need coffee, of the first person who walks into here with a bloody nose is gonna get a nasty surprise." He stumbled I to his office and stripped off his dirty pair of jeans and t-shirt before throwing on a clean pair of dark wash jeans and a soft orange polo. He glanced at himself in the mirror before grimacing and grabbing a towel to dry his face. Two minutes later he walked back into the hospital room.
"Okay, miss sugar addict, let's go get your fix."

[Kaalee/Jonnilee]

"Fine." She said, rolling her eyes. As they started down to the kitchens she looked at him. With remembering Felipe she got very limited memories of the three of them. No emotions attached the memories but what was said in them confused her. He caught her staring though so she quickly back tracked.
"What happened to you last night? You looked like death warmed up." She asked him.

[Alec/Jay]

He rubbed the back of his neck; she was going to be less than happy, he thought. "Oh, well, I was having a pretty rough day and just needed to let some steam out. I, erm, got smashed at Hog's Head. Usually it doesn't bother me, but I wanted to get drunk quick, and so I ordered cheap liquor." He gave a short laugh. "Thought I had learned my lesson last time when I woke up feeling like someone was splitting my brain open with a chisel, but I guess that lesson didn't sink in."

[Kaalee/Jonnilee]

She glared at him.
"And you think I have bad habits." She muttered under her breath, hitting him on the back of the head as she did it.
"I've got a cure for hangovers in my office, I'll get it for you after we eat, since it's not really supposed to be taken on an empty stomach." Kaalee said.

[Alec/Jay]

"You're a lifesaver, Kaals," Alec said gratefully. He put his arm around her shoulder in a half-hug. "And its not so much a habit as it is a coping mechanism, I suppose. Sure, I like a glass of good firewhiskey every now and then, but so does most other men, right?"

[Kaalee/Jonnilee]

"Yes but you didn't just have a glass of good firewhiskey did you?" She asked him.

[Alec/Jay]

"Kaaaaleeeee," Alec whined, looking at her with puppy dog eyes, "I just explained that to you! Getting drink is a coping mechanism." He stuck his tongue out at her. "No, I didn't just have a glass of good firewhiskey. I had a few combined with some cheap cactus juice, guavaberry rum, and some other things that I can't quite remember. I might've had an Azkaban, I think..."

She banged her head against his shoulder repeatedly before peering up at him with one eye.
"Coping with what?" She asked him

[Alec/Jay]

"Oh just the fact that the girl I consider my sister was in the hospital, one of my only guy friends was in a coma, and my best friend doesn't remember a single thing from the past to years," Alec said in a fake chipper tone. "And then I got an owl last night after I left your mom's old house saying that my uncle, who raised me, is in severe danger of having a heart attack, but the man is too stubborn to eat healthy foods and too lazy to exercise."

So she did the most Kaaleeish thing she could think off. She kissed him. After several seconds of him nt responding to her she broke apart and sighed.
"No, you're supposed to kiss me back. It's proven that having a sexual relationship relieves stress." She said, with a harrumph.

[Alec/Jay]

"Stressed?" Alec asked, his voice cracking. "That's what last night was for, dummy. I'm not stressed anymore." Alec gave her a wicked grin, his eyes sparkling in desire. "Though I don't mind the sexual relationship part."

He sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. "No, actually, I do mind. While I appreciate the gesture, Kaals, I'm not okay with it until you remember a little more. Or when it means more to you than a last resort you can think of to try and cheer me up." He reached up and tickled the pear in the fruit bowl, since they had finally reached the kitchens.
"Winky!" he called. Immediately, the little elf came running up, tripping over her feet in her eagerness.
"Yes, Master Alec?"
"Get the goof ball here a chocolate muffin. She's informed me that if she doesn't overdo it, she's fine. I guess a muffin in the morning is okay. Oh, and get me a cheese Danish and a cup of coffee, two sugars and no cream, would you, please?"
