"Hmm," I thought quietly. I felt her head. "You do feel warm, actually." I pulled an old fashioned thermometer out from my pocket. "Open." Obediently she opened her mouth, and I placed the instrument under her tongue. I performed a series of basic tests-- checking her pulse and blood pressure, holding my stethescope up to her back and having her inhale--but she passed all of them. I checked the temperature on the thermometer. "37 degrees," I murmered to myself before slipping the tool back into the deep pockets of my robes.

"Other than a fever, headache, and sensitivity to light, you're healthy as a horse," I said in slightly louder than normal speaking tone. I wanted to see if she would flinch, and she did. "It also seems that you don't like loud noises in your current state. So, my diagnosis would be a fever and migraine, which is like a headache on steroids. Not much to be concerned about. Both of those go away, though some people have migraines that happen again and again. I'll give you a potion to help lower your fever, and one to help take away the pain from the migraine. I do suggest you take a sleeping potion, after you eat of course, because both of those things are important."

I set a message down to the kithens, and ten seconds later, a house elf appeared carrying a tray with dry toast and a bubly lemon-lime soda. "Once you eat these, you can take your potions and you'll feel better. Oh, and I'll take care of te light for you." I waved my wand at the windows, and the curtains drew shut. The hospital wing was now illuminated in a dim, blue from the light sifting blue curtains.

i opened my eyes and looked at the food and then at Alec and Kaalee. I pulled myself up and i ate the toast swallowing was painful, i drank the lemonade but felt so tired, i let my head hung and i almost fell out of the bed.

I caught her before she felt out of bed, and gently helped her to lay back onto the pillows. "Or maybe you won't even need that sleeping potion," I joked to her. "Don't try and move, I'll be right back." Hurrying into my office, I grabbed the two potion vials for the fever and the migraine, and as a last-second decision, grabbed the sleeping potion. "Here, take all of these. You should be better in the morning," I said to Nara and handed her the vials one at a time. "After all, what use is magic if it can't cure a simple headache or fever, right, Kaalee?"

I took in the three vials. " This is soo disgusting." i closed my eyes and drifted off in a deep sleep.

(here we go again, next time i'm going to be healthy :S)

I rolled my eyes. People were always complaining about the taste, but they didn't seem to have a problem with the potions when the wonderous little creations made them healthy again. With a sigh, I headed down to the Great Hall to see if there was any breakfast left. If not, my poor, rumbling stomach and I would have to make our way down even further to the kitchens. I didn't know if i could last that long without dying from starvation.

I walked into the Great Hall, and was relieved to see a few students still straggling around, some half-asleep as they shoveled in toast and eggs. I chuckled a little, remembering my years when I wouldn't even get up in time for breakfast, and sometimes missed lunch. We (and by we, I mean me) had thrown some pretty crazy parties in the Hufflepuff Common Room, some that would go on until 4 in the morning. Professor Sprout was such a deep sleeper that she had never even noticed. The Weasley twins would often come and join, usually being the suppliers of the alcohol and candy.

The older students at the Hufflepuff table, a few who I was honestly surprised to see awake before three in the afternoon, called out to me, and waved me over. With a glance up at the Teachers' table, I found that it was mostly empty. So, with a shrug, I trotted over to my buddies and plopped down. I was instantly enveloped in their warmth and familiarity as I shoveled eggs and bacon onto my plate. It was like nothing had happened. Had it not been for the slightly haunted looks on the faces of the seventh years who had fought in the War, I could've been fooled that it was just a normal day.

I refused to darken my good mood with thoughts like those, though, and instantly jumped into the conversation, teasing and making fun of my old friends. My thoughts did wander to Kaalee and why she wasn't in the Great Hall, but then the thought left my mind as Ray told a joke at te expense of Dan

a couple of hours of sleep and i woke up feeling better, i looked around and saw nobody. i pulled the sheets away and stood up and walked and then stopped. No headache and not feeling dizzy lucky me. I quickly walked out on my way to the slytherin common room and to the girls dorm to take a warm shower. Alec wouldn't mind that i took a shower, i will walk back after and tell him i'm okay.

After my shower i felt really good. i changed and made my way back to the hospital wing. I stopped when i saw Alec walking around. Maybe it wasn't a really great idea. i gulped and walked to my bed and quickly sitting down. Here comes the speech!

I was humming to myself as I walked up the stairs carrying an tray of Danishes that I had taken from the great hall. I knew I would be hungry later. I saw Nara trying to sneak back into bed and I raised an eyebrow.
"Nara!" I barked at her and, after putting the tray down on my office desk, walked to her bedside and folded my arms. I could only keep the act up for so long before my glare turned into a laugh. "I see you're feeling better. That's good! You look fine, so you're free to go." I flapped my hand at her, dismissing her. Crossing into my office, I shut the door behind me, propped my feet up onto my desk, and opened a book. In a second, I was in a place far away, though I munched on a Danish.

(sorry, I have to go! Ill be back in three and a half hours though...)

Kaalee made her way to the infirmary, partly because she didn't have anything else to do, partly because the only person who could stand her during her sugar highs was Alec. She had a milkshake in her hand and a cookie in the other. Life was good.

I reached out to grab another Danish, my hand crawling around the plate. When I didn't feel one, I tore my eyes away from the page--the story was just getting good too--and glanced at the plate to try and spot one. The plate was empty, save for a few crumbs.
The yummy little pastries were all gone.
I groaned.

"Have a cookie. It makes life better." Kaalee giggled, handing him a cookie. She took a sip of her milk shake and laughed when the straw got stuck on her lip. She pulled but the suction was too great. She groaned and looked at Alec.
"Help please?" She asked him.

I jumped at the sound of her voice, but greedily grabbed the cookie and gobbled it up. "fanks, Kaawee!" I tried to say around my mouthful of sugary goodness. With a huge effort, I swallows the gooey glob down and grinned at her. "Sure, I'll help you, love." My eyes twinkled in mischief as I grabbed her wrist and pulled her down onto my lap. Taking the straw into my mouth, I lifted it off the bottom of the glass, where it was stuck, and took in a large mouthful of milkshake.
When she giggle again, I groaned and hit my forhead repeatedly on her shoulder, accentuating each word I said with another headbutt. "I. Am. Going. To. Kill. That. Fu-frickin'. HOUSE ELF."

She pouted slightly before smiling.
"It was just a milkshake. And some sugar cookies. But just like...5." She said before a briliently evil plan came to her head. She made sure to compose her face before maneuvering herself so she was straddling him. She put her hands on the back of his chair, bracing herself. She leaned over and whispered in his ear.
"Your...it!" She said before jumping back and running to the door.

I froze when she straddled my lap, my eyes going wide and locking with hers, and my heart beating rapidly. As she leaned in closed to me, I went cross eyed trying to keep her small, so-very-talented mouth in focus as she drew my attention to it by licking her lips.
Her breath tickled my ear and made me shiver as she whispered, "You're it." The. She was gone.
Wait. What the fanged frisbees just happened?
I sat, stunned and dazed in my chair for a few seconds while my overworked brain tried to figure out the past fifteen seconds. Kaalee had given me a cookie. She had a milkshake. She had cookies...
Aww, damn. She was on a sugar high. And we were going to play tag now like a couple of bloody primary school kids. That elf was SO dead.
But wait, I could totally use this to my advantage. A wicked grin spread over my face as I jumped to my feet and sprinted out of my office. When I didn't see her in sight anywhere, I froze and listened for the sound of her giggles. She never could keep quiet while hyper.
A muffled snort came from my left, and I vaulted over the hospital bed, looking for the voice.
"Come out come out wherever you are, Kaalee," I called in a sweet, baby voice.

Kaalee bit on her hand, trying to keep from laughing. She was hiding under one of the hospital beds. She watched as he came over to where she was.
"Come out, come out, where ever you are Kaalee." He called and she stifled another giggle. She watched as his feet went down the aisle and as soon as they were two beds down she darted to the next bed, slipping under it hopefully faster then he saw her.

The squeak of skin on clean hardwood floor caught my attention, though the sound was just barely audible. Just to keep up the act, I repeated the taunting question as I peeked under a sheet on a fully made bed, but I kept my eye trained on a certain area where I had heard the squeak. "Hmm," I murmured and walked back down a few beds, my footsteps sounding loud in the quiet room. "I wonder where she could be...oh well, I'm kind of tired.." I yawned and fell back on the bed she was hiding under. Using the motion from my bounce when I hit the mattress, I rolled off the bed and landed on the floor in a crouch. I peeked under the bed and saw a pair of eyes looking at me. With a snort I poked her in the forehead and drawled a lazy "you're it, shnookums."

By the time Kaalee got herself out of under the bed and upright Alex was no where in sight.

So two really can play this game.

Kaalee shook her head and went into Alex's office to see if he was there's. When he wasn't she thought, where would Alec go? And the. The she took off for the lake.

I knew I was faster than she was, and I knew that she would be confused after he had found her so quickly, so Alec took his time as he meandered down the well worn path next to the Black Lake. His hands were shoved deep into the pockets of his worn jeans, his white robe had been discarded on the back of his office chair when he had entered after breakfast. Te roughed his gut brown hair and raised goosebumps on his arms through the thin fabric of his cotton long sleeved shirt.
However, he also knew that Kaalee would know exactly where to find him, and with that in mind, a small smile formed across his lips. But he quickly wiped it off and replaced it with his usualeicked grin and slid back easily into his devil-may-care attitude when a group of giggling second years passed Alec on their way to a third year boy.
'Poor sap,' he thought, though the thought was colored with mental laughter because he knew the boy wouldn't have a clue how to handle the situation. Finally, Alec reached the tee that he and Kaalee had so much history with and sat down beneath it with a sigh. The rough feeling of the bark beneath his back comforted Alec and he closed his eyes and enjoyed what feeble sun was shining through the clouds that had appeared out of nowhere.

She saw him by the tree, finally coming down off her high. She went a curled up next to him, resting her head on his chest and looking up at the sky.
"Found you." She said softly, turning her attetniom to him.

It was an instinctual move when his arm wrapped around her, holding her small body closer to him. A different sort of smile stretched across his face as her added body heat and mere presence took away any chill from the wind skittering across the lake, causing the usually clear water to be wavy. "knew you would," he replied simply, barely cracking open one eye to look down at her. He took in her calm appearance and his smile stretched even wider, geteing goofy now. He closed his eye again and let out a large breath, seeming to exhale any tension that he may have had in his body.

I walked through the corridors I haven't seen Nicholas for a while and I miss him like crazy. I walked outside and a weird looking bird came up to me and dropped a letter in my hands and took off. I opened the letter and read it and I gasped. I ran to the black lake where Alec and Kaalee were sitting the tears streamed down my cheeks.

" he has Nic! He is going to kill Nicholas if I don't come to the other side." I fell down on my knees and I cried. " he has Nicholas, my Nicholas!"

Kaalee smiled and closed her eyes, just enjoying the day. Until Nara came, sobbing. Kaalee got up, still in contact with Alec, eyes now wide with concern.
"What?" Kaalee said stupidly. How the hell could her brother still be alive? Didn't her learn his lesson last time?
"Nara love, calm down okay? I know how you're feeling but you need to calm down." Kaalee told her.
